Well, first: damn, tough question.
But second, at least in the context of this blog, to me being a kid at heart means finding joy in things that are often deemed childish, or unworthy of their time. And in our culture, nothing’s really considered more frivolous than the kind of light, frothy pop music that k-pop excels at. K-pop in general is an industry that is greatly geared towards women, and its female fans are its life blood, so is it any wonder that it’s so often that people don’t take it seriously?
This question spoke to me, because I think that it’s something Married To The Music really helped me with. I had to overcome my own prejudice—prejudice I didn’t even realize I had—against pop music to become a better reviewer and just a better person in general. And now, I can proudly say that I embrace the “childish” aspects of my personality wholeheartedly. I dance to TWICE and Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s poppiest, sappiest songs with pure joy, and I’m all the better off for it.
