September 3rd –> November 2nd 2024
In “honor” of the blog being a year old, I’ve decided to do these little roundups every so often, starting in September of last year. Here are my Top 2 songs of every artist I covered from September 3rd to November 2nd of 2024, along with my thoughts on who was most overrated, which review made me shed a couple tears, and what idol stood out from the rest. Range: The oldest group was BigBang, who debuted in 2006, and the newest group was RIIZE (Gen 5), who debuted in 2023.
Favorite Group: Gfriend. They’ve always been one of my favorite groups but here I am, adoring them even more. I’m so proud to be a Buddy and even prouder to see them coming back!
Favorite Soloist: Yesung of Super Junior. Though the reason I started the review was just a happy accident, he ended up being one of my favorite artists!
Least Favorite Artist: ITZY. I didn’t actually outright dislike any of the groups I reviewed this time around but I felt like they just had so much potential that they didn’t live up to, which is unfortunate.
Biggest Surprise: Kiss Of Life! I didn’t know much about them besides Sticky, but I’m considering going to their concert now. Also A.C.E, who completely disproved my assumptions about 4th Gen boy groups.
Underrated Group: 100%. They’re a group I knew almost nothing about, which is why I did this. I loved learning about Minwoo and really appreciated their talents.
Overrated Group: RIIZE. They’re so popular, and it’s not an easy task to live up to that kind of fame. They have some good songs, but more often than not I felt like they missed the mark.

- Wheel Of The Year by Gfriend.
Stand-Out Idol: BoA from GOT The Beat. You can just tell the incredible amount of time and work that’s gone into her talents, even when she’s given sub-par material. I’m definitely doing a solo review soon.
Review That Made Me Cry: BigBang. It was such an emotional experience watching the Burning Sun documentary and learning about how deep the coverup ran. It was heartbreaking trying to square that with the music I enjoyed, and I can’t imagine how it would have felt experiencing it in real time. It may be the most difficult review I’ve ever written.
