K-pop Recommendations: Ballads
Often dramatic and sweeping, either with strings or piano, ballads can also be anything that’s mainly centered around beautiful vocals. Think When This Rain Stops by Wendy, Don’t Look At Me Like That by Song Jieun, or Love Wins All by IU.

Groups:

Description: one of few instrumental bands in the industry, ONEWE combines rock music and ballads in a unique way every time, and has a large discography that knocked my socks off the first time I heard it. Their music is cathartic and powerful, and definitely worth a listen.

Taeyeon
Description: one of k-pop’s most famous soloists, Taeyeon (who first debuted in the huge group Girls Generation) is known for her ballads, and has gone from acoustic works like Fine to bonafide ballads like Rain. She has a fantastic voice, and uses it to its fullest potential.

BTOB
Description: Known for their ballads as well, though in a different way than Taeyeon, BTOB combine ballads with choreography in a way that wasn’t really done before them, and they’ve transformed pieces like I’ll Be Your Man and Blue Moon into full performances.
