December 18th 2023 –> March 25th 2024
In “honor” of the blog being a year old, I’ve decided to do these little roundups every so often, starting in September of last year. Here are my Top 2 songs of every artist I covered from December 18th of 2023 to March 25th of 2024 along with my thoughts on who was most overrated, which review made me shed a couple tears, and what idol stood out from the rest. Featured artists in the thumbnail, L-R, Top: Kim Jonghyun (SHINee), Fromis_9; Bottom: Mamamoo, NCT Dream

Featured Artists: Jonghyun, Chung Ha, Lucy, Girls Generation, ATEEZ, Key, 9Muses, (G)I-DLE (re-do), Kim Sejeong, Onew, Rolling Quartz, SHINHWA, Fromis_9, NCT 127, Bol4, Golden Child, Mamamoo, NCT Dream (re-do)
Range: The oldest group here is SHINHWA (Gen 1), who debuted in 1998, and the newest is Rolling Quartz (Gen 4), who debuted in 2020.
Favorite Group: Girls’ Generation. They’re a classic for a reason, guys. Their discography is impeccable. ITNW alone is a moment for the history books.
Favorite Soloist: Jonghyun, not that it was ever a competition. He was a brilliant lyricist and a great singer, and we’re poorer without him.
Least Favorite Artist: NCT 127. I have a very low tolerance for noise music, and that’s basically their thing, so it’s not really surprising.
Biggest Surprise: Lucy. I knew nothing about them when I started my review, but by the end I was a bonafide fan! I didn’t get to see them on this tour, but I’m crossing my fingers for next time.
Underrated Group: Rolling Quartz. They may not technically be k-pop, but no way was I not going to cover them. Do yourself a favor and check out an incredible k-rock girl group.
Overrated Group: NCT 127. See above, or any of the many reviews where I complain about them ad nauseam.
Top 5 Songs:
- Azalea by Rolling Quartz
- Wonderland by ATEEZ
- Flare by Lucy
- Demente by Chung Ha
- In The Rain by Kim Sejeong
Stand-Out Idol: Kim Sejeong. She was a part of both I.O.I. and Gugudan, but covering her as a soloist made me really appreciate her talents.
Review That Made Me Cry: Jonghyun, of course, but also Key, seeing how he was grieving after his best friend’s death.

Thanks for tuning in to our roundup! Tschüss and see you next time!
